Please Help A Sick Child

Postby GhostHunter on Fri Aug 28, 2009 1:50 am

On August 29th MBRTV 2 and 5 will be holding a televised telethon for T.J. Compton. He is a 7 year old boy who has been diagnosed with brain cancer. After undergoing an MRI doctors discovered a tumor on his brain the size of a baseball on his frontal lobe. T.J. underwent a 13 hour surgery to remove the tumor, but unfortunately, they could not remove all of the tumor. This type of tumor is Glioblastoma multiforme, which is the most common and most aggressive brain tumor. Even with complete surgical resection of the tumor, combined with the best available treatment, the survival rate for GBM remains very low. (Let's all pray for his full recovery, and not give up hope for this child) TJ's mother, and father are currently residing at the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati, OH while T.J. undergoes extensive chemotherapy and radiation in hopes of killing the remaining cancer cells.

MBRTV 2 and 5 will be holding this telethon to raise money for both T.J. and his family. Not only will there be medical expenses, but living expenses as well. T.J. will remain in the hospital for at least 4 months while going through chemotherapy and radiation. His mother, who only has 4 weeks left before graduating cosmetology class, has put this on hold. As well, as his father, who has taken an absence from his current job to be with their child.

During this telethon there will be many various items that will be up for auction as well as live entertainment from groups/bands from all over. If you do not want to participate in the auction you can still make a donation. If you live in Scott, Campbell, Whitley, or McCreary County please, please, please donate if you can. It does not matter how little you can give, because every little bit will count and will go far. If you live here, locally, and do not have cable you can call (423) 663-5555 or (606) 376-5000 to make a donation. We do have a toll free number you can call also. It is 1-877-433-3795. This family would be very appreciative and thankful. 100% of the donations and proceeds made will go to T.J. and his family.

It is heartbreaking and devastating when a child is sick, but we can all pitch in and give a little bit to help this family out in an enduring and trying time. Let's all take a moment and ask ourselves, what if this were my child or my loved one? We would all want someone to care enough to help us out in our time of need. Any little bit of help is better than nothing. If all else fails we can all keep them in our thoughts, prayers, and in our hearts. Let's give not only T.J., but his entire family our strength and support.

T.J., you have so many people that care and love you. We are all praying that you make a full recovery. You have touched so many lives, even if we have never met you. You have truly left a mark in our hearts with your bravery. You are beautiful and a true inspiration to all of us. May God bless you and your family. He will take care of you. Just know that you are very loved, and everyone is here for you.
